Please, learn how to cook. 3 reasons, why you should do it

Exactly 25 years ago my mom told me this:

You don't need to cook on daily basis, but you surely NEED TO LEARN how to cook

Time went by, I've graduated from college, got married and became a proud 9-to-5 marketer. But one thing never changed: I still love to cook and always remember my mom's advice. Thanks, mom.

So, I've got 3 reasons for you to make cooking a lifetime hobby. Or habit.

It's fun and addicting

Yeah, it really is. But to get this huge dopamine hit after you've cooked something delish, start with simple things. Nobody made Beef Wellington from scratch before knowing how to peel an egg without ruining it :-)

As a starting point, watch this video of Joshua Weissman, famous YouTube chef, that I admire a lot.

You learn something new

How to make dull knife sharp again? Why can't you cook everything on high heat? Can someone make chicken breast taste good at home kitchen? Is MSG bad for your health?

Listen, if you don't want to know anything on this subject — it's okay, but imagine yourself flexing all that knowledge at your buddy's kitchen and blushing after those "you need to be a chef" comments. +35 points confidence buff — free.

Check out this video on Cheap Vs Expensive Pasta from Ethan Chlebowski, home cook and food scientist (Yeah, Ethan, I'll call you that even if you don't have a degree).

You can make your loved ones really happy

Main reason for me, I guess. Making food for someone precious is an ultimate act of love. Give your people some new experiences right from the kitchen — it's always a great idea, believe me.

Really, it would take me hours to give you all the reasons why cooking is awesome, but I won't take more of your time. I'm just hoping I've inspired you just for that first step. Watch some videos above and try to recreate something.

And yeah...

Can't leave you without pics of food I've made by myself. No culinary education needed — just your hands and the simplest kitchen utensils.

You got this. Much love, Yevhen.
